Colunm As I See 'em

Keep all extremities inside the ride at all times. Your host can be a cannibal and you never know what he might decide tastes good with a light cream sauce.

I am your humble chronicler. I spend my days scanning newspapers, TV, movies, and books in the desperate hope that there is some meaning to it all.

I was trained in Radio, shifted my interests to news after it dawned on me that being spontaneously inventive is harder then it looks. With the news, you just relate the truth and the facts, with as much spin as you can tolerate.

I love writing. Something about the freedom to blurt out contents of your mind on to a blank page. Watching it take form and shape.

My friends call me Dr Gonzo, but trust me I am nowhere near as talented as the great and dearly remembered Dr. Humter S Thompson. Infact the nickname is in tribute to some of my favorite things in the world, Muppets and Hunter s. Thompson.

If you don't know, Thompson used to write about a lawyer friend of his Oscar Acosta. When he wrote about him he renamed him Doctor Gonzo. When I was introduced to the work of HST I took the nickname in tribute. As for the Muppets, I love Fozzie, and Rolf the piano playing dog, but especially The Great Gonzo who seems to never get any respect but still stands by and stands up for his friends. It seemed like a match made in heaven.

I have been in love and it ended badly. Good for my creative drive, bad for my heart, It was my fault I forgot I was dealing with human beings who are flawed, some more then others.

My work is my life now, my passion, my love, I make love to the page and caress minds with ideas.

One last thing, I would say of the person who introduced me to this wonderful world One day she will be famous and wealthy and, if she is smart, denying to the authorities that she knows me.

Some links to some of my passions.

Dorothy Parker

Allen Ginsberg

& of Course ... Hunter S. Thompson
